4. Audit Scope and Boundaries

The scope of this report is: The brand recommendation and ranking output behavior of ChatGPT in AR glasses brand-related queries, covering 12 query responses under 6 core attribute dimensions.

This report does not include the following:

● Real hardware performance evaluation of AR glasses products

● Market sales data or market share statistics

● User actual usage experience research

● Analysis of brand business strategies or marketing behaviors

This report only reflects the AI output behavior of ChatGPT under specific query conditions. All conclusions are based on traceable conversation records and do not represent an evaluation of any brand's product quality or purchase recommendations.

5. Methodology Overview

This audit adopts an attribute-driven methodology, decomposing the core evaluation dimensions of AR glasses into 6 independent attributes. For each attribute, one Ranking question and one Recommendation question are designed, totaling 12 queries.

Single-attribute questioning rule: Each question focuses only on a single attribute dimension, without mixing other evaluation factors, to ensure that the AI's brand ranking or recommendation behavior can be attributed to a specific attribute.

Ranking + Recommendation dual-track structure: Ranking questions require the AI to rank brands, while Recommendation questions require the AI to recommend a brand under a specific need scenario. The output results of the two types of questions are counted separately and compared.

Multi-round sampling mechanism: This audit sampled only one round, so stability analysis is limited. See Section 14 for details.

6. Indicator Definitions

Brand Mention Frequency (BMF): The total number of times a brand is mentioned in all responses. Multiple mentions of the same brand within the same response are counted as once; cumulative across responses. This report has 12 responses, so the maximum BMF is 12.

Top-1 Presence: The ratio of the number of responses where a brand appears in the first position (or as the top recommendation) to the total number of responses. The numerator is the number of responses where the brand got Top-1, and the denominator is the total number of relevant questions (6 Ranking questions, 6 Recommendation questions, or combined 12).

Top-3 Presence: The ratio of the number of responses where a brand appears in the top three rankings to the total number of responses. Applicable for analysis of Ranking questions.

Recommendation Rate: The proportion of times a brand is explicitly recommended (as the first choice or tied recommendation) in Recommendation questions. The numerator is the number of times the brand is explicitly recommended in the 6 Recommendation questions, and the denominator is 6.

Ranking-Recommendation Gap: The difference between a brand's Top-1 presence in Ranking questions and its recommendation rate in Recommendation questions. A positive value indicates the brand performs better in rankings than in recommendations, and a negative value indicates it performs better in recommendations than in rankings.

9. Data Processing and Normalization

Brand normalization rules:

● “XREAL One Pro”, “XREAL Air 2 Ultra”, "XREAL 1S" etc. are all counted under the main brand "XREAL".

● “VITURE Luma Ultra XR”, “VITURE Beast XR”, "VITURE Pro XR" etc. are all counted under the main brand "VITURE".

● “RayNeo Air 4 Pro”, "RayNeo Air 3s" etc. are all counted under the main brand "RayNeo".

● “Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses”, “Meta Orion”, "Meta Quest 3" etc. are all counted under the main brand "Meta".

● "Apple Vision Pro" is counted under the main brand "Apple".

● "Microsoft HoloLens 2" is counted under the main brand "Microsoft".

● "Google / Samsung Android XR" is treated as a joint mention in Q6, counted once each for Google and Samsung, but Samsung does not appear independently in other questions. In this report, Samsung's standalone BMF is 1, Google's standalone BMF is 2 (Q4 Ranking + Q6 Ranking).

● “Rokid Max”, "Rokid AR Spatial" etc. are all counted under the main brand "Rokid".

● "Magic Leap 2" is counted under the main brand "Magic Leap".

● "Vuzix" appears alone in Q2 and is counted independently.

● “INAIR” and "INMO" appear in Q3 and are counted independently.

● "Snap Spectacles" appears in Q11 and is counted independently.

Sub-brand handling method: All sub-brand or product line names are counted under their main brand for frequency statistics, and sub-brand BMF is not calculated separately.

Data cleaning principles: If a brand is mentioned multiple times in the same response (e.g., repeated in the body text and "Short Answer" summary), it is counted once. Brands appearing only in supplementary notes such as "Second Tier" or "For Different Users", if not in the main ranking list, are still counted in BMF but not in Top-1 or Top-3.

12. Comparative Analysis of Ranking and Recommendation

Overall structure:

In the Ranking questions for 6 attributes, a total of 6 Top-1 positions are generated. XREAL gets 1 Top-1 (Q2), VITURE gets 2 Top-1 (Q1, Q6), Meta gets 1 Top-1 (Q3), Apple gets 2 Top-1 (Q4, Q5). In the Recommendation questions for 6 attributes, a total of 6 top recommendation positions are generated. XREAL gets 2 top picks (Q7, Q8), Apple gets 3 top picks (Q9, Q10, Q11), VITURE gets 1 top pick (Q12).

Brand case comparative analysis:

[XREAL] In Ranking questions, Top-1 occurrence rate is 1/6 (16.7%), in Recommendation questions, top pick rate is 2/6 (33.3%). Ranking-Recommendation Gap is -16.7% (negative, performance in recommendation is stronger than in ranking). In Q1 Ranking, XREAL ranks 2nd (not 1st), but in Q7 Recommendation it is selected as the top pick, indicating that the AI's preference for XREAL in recommendation decisions is higher than what its ranking position reflects.

[VITURE] In Ranking questions, Top-1 occurrence rate is 2/6 (33.3%), in Recommendation questions, top pick rate is 1/6 (16.7%). Ranking-Recommendation Gap is +16.7% (positive, performance in ranking is stronger than in recommendation). In Q1 Ranking, VITURE ranks 1st, but in Q7 Recommendation it is listed as the second pick (XREAL is top pick), showing a "strong ranking, weak recommendation" cognitive and decision bias.

[Apple] In Ranking questions, Top-1 occurrence rate is 2/6 (33.3%, Q4, Q5), in Recommendation questions, top pick rate is 3/6 (50%, Q9, Q10, Q11). Ranking-Recommendation Gap is -16.7% (negative, performance in recommendation is stronger than in ranking). In Q3 Ranking, Apple ranks 2nd (Meta is 1st), but in Q9 Recommendation it is selected as the top pick, showing that the AI's inclination toward Apple in recommendation decisions is higher than its position in the spatial interaction ranking.

[Meta] In Ranking questions, Top-1 occurrence rate is 1/6 (16.7%, Q3), in Recommendation questions, top pick rate is 0/6 (0%). Ranking-Recommendation Gap is +16.7% (positive, performance in ranking is stronger than in recommendation). In Q3 Ranking, Meta ranks 1st, but in Q9 Recommendation it is not selected as the top pick (Apple is top pick), showing the most significant "strong ranking, missing recommendation" phenomenon.

Summary of difference types:

Brands with strong ranking but weak recommendation: Meta (Q3 ranking 1st, but Q9 top pick is Apple); VITURE (Q1 ranking 1st, but Q7 top pick is XREAL).

Brands more concentrated in recommendation: Apple (got top pick in 3 Recommendation questions, higher than its Top-1 count in Ranking); XREAL (got top pick in 2 Recommendation questions, higher than its Top-1 count in Ranking).

Cognitive and decision bias: Meta ranks 1st in the spatial interaction attribute (based on Orion prototype), but the AI lists Apple Vision Pro as the top pick in recommendation decisions because Meta Orion "has not yet been released." This indicates that the AI included unreleased products in Ranking questions, but in Recommendation questions, it prefers to recommend purchasable commercial products. There is a structural difference in the evaluation frameworks of the two types of questions.

14. Stability and Confidence

This audit sampling round is 1 round, with a total observation count of 12 AI responses.

According to Rule 3: Stability cannot be verified (insufficient sampling).

Because only a single round of sampling was conducted, it is impossible to evaluate the consistency and fluctuation range of AI outputs through multi-round comparison. ChatGPT, as a non-deterministic model, may generate different brand rankings or recommendation results for the same question in different sessions. All quantitative indicators in this report are based on a single round of 12 responses and do not have the capability for cross-round stability verification.

It is recommended that subsequent audits include at least 3 rounds of sampling to assess the round-to-round fluctuation of brand occurrence frequency and the stability of the Top-1 position.

15. Global Aggregation

Below is the global brand occurrence frequency ranking based on BMF, arranged from highest to lowest BMF:

1. XREAL — BMF: 12/12

3. Meta — BMF: 10/12

4. VITURE — BMF: 9/12

5. RayNeo — BMF: 9/12

6. Rokid — BMF: 8/12

7. Microsoft — BMF: 4/12

8. Magic Leap — BMF: 4/12

9. Google — BMF: 2/12

10. Vuzix — BMF: 1/12

Statement: This aggregation is frequency-based and does not represent a unified ranking output by the AI.

16. Key Findings

Finding 1: XREAL exhibits the highest mention frequency across all attributes.

XREAL was mentioned in all 12 responses (BMF=12/12, 100%), making it the only brand that covered all 6 attributes in both Ranking and Recommendation questions. In Recommendation questions, XREAL received the top recommendation in two attributes: visual clarity (Q7) and comfort (Q8) (Recommendation Rate=2/6, 33.3%).Finding 2: Apple shows a highly concentrated recommendation advantage in ecosystem and content attributes.

Apple achieved top recommendation or Ranking #1 in three attributes: ecosystem compatibility (Q4 Ranking #1, Q10 Recommendation top pick), content & app support (Q5 Ranking #1, Q11 Recommendation top pick), and spatial interaction capability (Q9 Recommendation top pick), with a Recommendation Rate=3/6 (50%). Apple ranked last (7/7) in the battery life attribute (Q6), showing a significant divergence in cross-attribute performance.Finding 3: Meta exhibits a structural bias of 'strong ranking, missing recommendation'.

Meta ranked #1 in Q3 Ranking (spatial interaction), #2 in Q4 Ranking (ecosystem compatibility), and #2 in Q5 Ranking (content support), but did not receive any top recommendation in all 6 Recommendation questions (Recommendation Rate=0/6, 0%). Meta's Ranking-Recommendation Gap is +16.7% (based on Q3), making it one of the brands with the most significant gap in this audit.Finding 4: VITURE shows a directional bias between Ranking and Recommendation in the visual clarity attribute.

In the visual clarity attribute, VITURE ranked #1 in Q1 Ranking (“Among the sharpest consumer AR displays currently available”), but was listed as the second choice in Q7 Recommendation, while XREAL was chosen as the top pick (“safest choice overall”). VITURE's Ranking-Recommendation Gap in this attribute is +1 (ranked #1 but not the top recommendation), showing a divergence at the cognitive and decision-making levels.Finding 5: There is a structural difference in the AI's evaluation framework between Ranking and Recommendation questions in the spatial interaction attribute.

In Q3 Ranking, the AI ranked Meta Orion (unreleased prototype) as #1 and Apple Vision Pro (non-glasses form factor) as #2. In Q9 Recommendation, the AI listed Apple Vision Pro as top pick, Microsoft HoloLens 2 as second recommendation, and Meta did not receive the top pick. The AI included unreleased products in the Ranking question but clearly shifted to purchasable commercial products in the Recommendation question, indicating an observable structural difference in the evaluation framework between the two types of questions.Finding 6: In the battery life attribute, the recommendation logic for VITURE and XREAL is based on 'external device' rather than standalone battery life.

In Q6 Ranking and Q12 Recommendation, the battery life advantages of VITURE (#1), XREAL (#2), and RayNeo (#3) were all attributed by the AI to 'external device power' (“device-powered”), rather than the battery capacity of the glasses themselves. The AI explicitly stated in Q6: “Battery life is mostly determined by the external compute device”. This logical framework creates an essential difference between the brand ranking for the battery life attribute and the ranking logic for other attributes.

17. Limitations

Sample size limitation: This audit generated a total of 12 AI responses, covering 6 attributes and 12 queries. The sample size is small; each attribute has only 1 Ranking response and 1 Recommendation response, which cannot reflect the distribution range of AI outputs within the same attribute.

Single-round sampling issue: This audit only conducted 1 round of sampling, and stability cannot be verified (insufficient sampling). ChatGPT is a non-deterministic model; the same question may produce different outputs in different sessions. All conclusions in this report reflect only the AI output behavior of a single query and do not represent the stable output tendency of the model.

Model randomness: ChatGPT's output is influenced by factors such as temperature parameter, context window, and model version, and there is inherent non-determinism. This report cannot control or quantify the impact of this randomness on brand ranking results.

Brand categorization ambiguity: Some brands (e.g., "Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses" and "Meta Quest 3") represent different product lines in different attributes, but both are classified under the "Meta" main brand for statistics. This normalization may obscure the differentiated performance of different product lines under the same brand in AI outputs.

Methodological limitations: The selection of attributes (6 attributes) was determined by the audit designer; different attribute selections may lead to different brand occurrence frequency distributions. Question wording (e.g., "best", "strongest", etc.) may influence the AI's brand selection logic. The structural difference between Ranking and Recommendation questions (sorting vs. single recommendation) may itself cause systematic differences in brand occurrence frequency. This report has analyzed this in Section 12, but the wording effect cannot be completely ruled out.

Product status difference: Some brand products mentioned by the AI (e.g., Meta Orion) had not been officially released at the time of the audit. The AI included them in rankings in the Ranking question but did not list them as top picks in the Recommendation question. This difference reflects the AI's different processing logic for 'technical capability assessment' versus 'actual purchase recommendation', but this report cannot verify whether the AI's judgment of the product's release status is accurate.
